I am as shaped by contrast as I am by creation. Born in Vietnam during the war and raised in California, I was taught early on to be seen, not heard. My first act of defiance—and discovery—came with a pencil. Through drawing, I began to form a voice that could exist beyond silence, one that would later evolve through the lens of a camera.
My practice is rooted in transformation and self-authorship. Working across makeup, hair, styling, photography, and post-production, I construct images that blur the line between subject and creator. This hands-on approach became integral to my identity in the early 2000s, when I emerged as a self-contained creative force—building entire visual narratives from the ground up.
Visually, my work is informed by dual inheritances: the stylized glamour of classic Hollywood cinema and the rebellious energy of punk, goth and rock and roll. These influences converge in images that explore femininity, performance, identity, and myth—often through figures that exist somewhere between fantasy and archetype.
My work has moved fluidly between commercial and artistic spaces, appearing in publications, books, television, and music media, while also extending into collaborations and commissioned projects. Yet much of my archive remains unseen—a quiet counterpoint to the images that have circulated publicly.
At its core, my work is about claiming space—about transforming visibility into voice.
